TechHive has a very handy article this week, detailing your options for playing iTunes music and streaming services such as Pandora or Spotify around the house. The $20 Monoprice Bluetooth adapter is a phenomenal value – I had no idea that even existed.
I created a quick and inexpensive mutli-zone system in our home using in-ceiling speakers (bought on Craigslist, thanks to alerts set up in IFTTT), multiple AirPort Expresses, and a few cheap but very capable and compactPyle Home amplifiers.
It’s not the most elegant solution, but it works beautifully from any computer or iOS device in the house, it’s future-proof, and no one knows the difference. It also beats shelling out thousands for a high-end, proprietary system that an A/V guy might recommend.
