It increases productivity and makes it easier to stay on top of everything. Windows out of the box handles multiple monitors well but one tool I could not live without that takes it a step further is called Display Fusion. Created by Binary Fortress, Display fusion is a multi-monitor manager that hugely increases the features and customization of the monitor setup, taskbars, title bar of each app and more. By default, Windows creates a copy of the main taskbar and places it on each monitor you add to the setup. But what if you wanted each taskbar to be different? Maybe have its own shortcuts for programs you normally only use on said monitor? This is possible with Display fusion. A huge advantage as well is when you open a program on Screen #2 windows will usually also display the icon on the other monitors as well. With Display Fusion however the program is only visible on the taskbar of the screen it was opened on. So no more shifting around looking for the app and what monitor it was on

This is only a small part of what this program is capable of. Use it to manage your wallpaper for instance. Using several wallpaper sources such as Reddit or Imgur and you can have automatically updating wallpaper using the terms you want. One monitor can have the Nasa picture of the day while the other can have a automatically refreshing picture of cats.

Here are just a few other features of the program:

  • Monitor splitting – split a monitor so Windows thinks its more than 1 monitor
  • Dim unused or inactive monitors so you can focus
  • Manage screensavers and have different ones on each monitor
  • Add buttons to Window bar to do things like move the window to another monitor and many others
  • Triggers – let you do things to windows such as automatically move Chrome windows to another monitor’s and maximize them

This is a small list of the features; I can say this program is one of the first things that is installed when I get a new computer or have to reset and are reinstalling programs. Head over to https://www.displayfusion.com/ and check them out. They offer a free version as well as a one time paid one that adds additional features you may like.
