In early 2011, one of Charlotte’s oldest commercial real estate firms put in motion a plan to move from its current offices, where it had been for nearly 35 years, to a new multi-tenant building it had recently acquired. We were brought on board to coordinate the building improvements and provide all necessary hardware, software, and IT services for a seamless transition to their new home.
As part of the move, the existing layout of the new building would be reconfigured, existing tenants would be shuffled to new spaces, and the building’s voice and data infrastructure would be completely overhauled to accommodate the changes. The firm would also be upgrading its entire IT footprint, including email service, smartphones, PCs, servers, and networking hardware.
Not only had they recently purchased an iPhone 4S for every employee, a number of people also had new MacBook Air laptops as primary work computers, so any new services would have to be Mac- and iPhone-friendly as well. Thanks to our experience in bringing Apple products into a variety of office environments, this wouldn’t be a problem.
Particular emphasis was placed on two platforms: Terminal Services for an efficient, secure, and flexible end-user experience, and Microsoft Office365 for cloud-based Exchange service.
The result was an affordable, lean, and highly-secure footingint which saved thousands on up-front hardware and software costs as well as ongoing maintenance costs.
