However, some alternatives are cheaper. For most of us, the price tag can be a little hard to swallow. Since Adobe has switched to the subscription model. At the time of this writing you can purchase the Standard version for $155 a year and the Pro version for $179. Also, the one-time purchase option is available for $299 or $449 for Pro. The subscription is an easier option, but you never own the program. If you plan to use the program for an extended period, it could mean shelling out more money than just getting the one-time version. There are other options like Nitro PDF: https://www.gonitro.com/pricing. It's a PDF editing and creation software that gives you the same functionality as Acrobat Acrobat and then some. Nitro PDF has a one-time purchase option on their site and costs $159 per user. They do offer license packages for a discount, as well as for teams.

The ease of use, in my opinion, is what sets it apart from other software, including Adobe. Need to convert a handful of Word, Excel, or PDFs into one PDF? Easy, just right-click, and an option appears to combine the selected files into a new PDF. You also have the option to convert PDF’s into other formats

. .Another favorite feature of mine is signatures. Adobe has this feature as well, but I find it hard to use and seems to be buried in the editing panel. With Nitro, it's as easy as choosing a quick sign and create a signature. You have the option of typing the name and Nitro will convert it into a signature, importing an image of the signature from a file, drawing the signature using a mouse, or using the webcam and a physical copy of the signature. It couldn't get any easier than holding a handwritten signature to the camera and being able to place that into any PDF. The signature is saved for future use, so you only need to create it once.

As you would expect, the program lets you start with an existing PDF, and edit/delete or add text, or you can start from scratch and create a PDF from a blank page or a scanned image.
